About
Built for Nigerian schools, by people who understand them.
SmartSchools is a school management platform that brings administration, teaching, exams, finance, HR, and parent communication into one role-aware system. It's built and operated by KK Glister Technology, a Nigerian software company.

What SmartSchools is
One platform for every function a school runs on.
Most schools run on a mix of spreadsheets, WhatsApp groups, paper records, and a handful of disconnected tools. The result is what every school admin already knows: student data in one place, exam scores in another, fee records in a third, and parents calling to ask for what the school already has.
SmartSchools brings those pieces into one system. A school admin sets up the academic year, imports the student roster from a CSV in one upload, invites staff, and assigns teachers to their subjects and classes. From there, teachers generate AI-assisted lesson plans and question drafts. The exam officer creates exams, teachers enter scores, and report cards publish to parents — each with the right person in the loop.
Every person in the school sees exactly what their role needs. Not one shared admin login. Six role-scoped views, enforced on the server. AI drafts, reviewed by teachers, never seen by students until a human approves.

The company behind SmartSchools
A Nigerian software company with a specific focus.
KK Glister Technology builds web and mobile software for organisations operating in Nigeria. SmartSchools is its school operations platform — the result of watching how Nigerian schools actually run their day, and building for that reality rather than adapting a foreign product.
The company operates from Nigeria, is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (RC 8171020), and processes payments through Flutterwave in Naira. Data handling follows the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

Founder
Mahmud Abubakar
Founder & Software Engineer, KK Glister Technology
Mahmud Abubakar is a software engineer and data analyst specialising in Rust, TypeScript, Next.js, and blockchain-backed applications. He's built and shipped products across mobile, web, and smart-contract layers — from the Gloxx Chain mobile app and its Express-based API, to published npm packages used by other developers.
SmartSchools is his attempt to solve a problem he grew up watching: how much work a Nigerian school admin does in spreadsheets that a well-designed system could handle. The product is a direct response to that — built for the reality of the schools it serves, not adapted from a template.
How we build
Four principles that shape every decision.
Built for the school, not for the demo
Every feature ships because a real school workflow needed it. No speculative modules, no vanity features. If it doesn't reduce work for a school admin or teacher, it doesn't ship.
AI drafts, humans decide
Every AI-generated lesson plan, question set, and scheme is a draft. The teacher reviews and approves it. The school — not the model — is accountable for what reaches students.
The school owns the data
Student records, staff records, exam scores, and parent contacts belong to the school. SmartSchools is a processor, not an owner. Export on request, any time.
Naira-first, Nigeria-built
Payments in Naira via Flutterwave. NDPA-aligned data handling. A calendar that matches Nigerian school terms. No product decisions made for a market we don't operate in.
